Souness: Suarez in ´last chance saloon´

Former Liverpool manager Graeme Souness believes Luis Suarez is in last chance saloon at Anfield after further controversy on Sunday.

The Uruguayan appeared to bite Branislav Ivanovic during Liverpool s 2-2 draw against Chelsea in the English Premier League.

The former Ajax striker has previously been banned for racial abuse and gesturing towards opposition supporters and Souness believes the latest controversy could put his future at the club in doubt.

I m not sure what to make of it, he told Sky Sports. Embarrassing. He s making it very difficult for himself to stay at Liverpool – that puts him in the last chance saloon.

Most important is safeguarding the good name of the football club. Liverpool are world renowned. People will be talking about this…

Aubameyang: Bayern will not win the Bundesliga

Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang does not believe that four-time reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich will win the league this season.

The Gabon international, who joined BVB from French Ligue 1 side AS Saint-Étienne in the summer of 2013, believes Dortmund under new manager Thomas Tuchel can put an end to Bayern s period of dominance in Germany s top-flight.

We have started the season well, Aubameyang  said. Although everybody knows that Bayern are favorites, as I said, and I am probably the only one thinking this and others don t, I don t think that Bayern will win the league this season. At least, this is what I think.

But we have to keep up for the whole season and then we ll see how the season will shape up at the e…

Ronaldinho a ´certainty´ to join Kabuscorp – Kangamba

Kabuscorp president Benedict Kangamba claimed Ronaldinho is set to move to Angola at the end of the Liga MX season.

Ronaldinho is a certainty to swap Queretaro in Liga MX for Angolan outfit Kabuscorp in June, according to club president Benedict Kangamba.

The 34-year-old is contracted until the end of the 2015-16 season after surprisingly joining Queretaro on a two-year deal last September.

Ronaldinho was linked with several clubs around the world, including Kabuscorp, prior to moving to Mexico.

Now Kabuscorp have once again emerged as a possible destination for the 2005 Ballon d Or winner, who is yet to justify his lucrative salary with Queretaro

Kabuscorp president Kangamba told Public Television Angola (PTA) that he expects Ronaldinho to be ply…

Vidal not leaving Barcelona this summer

Although it was already considered a done deal by some that Arturo Vidal would be part of Barcelona’s negotiating strategy to acquire Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain before the transfer window closes in two weeks, according to the Mirror, the Chilean midfielder will not be going anywhere this summer.

The 32-year-old came to Barcelona on a three-year contract in the summer of 2018, but despite his moderate success and due to the fact that Barca have a number of midfielders to fall back on they are now thinking of disposing of him.

Vidal was reportedly reluctant to leave the club at the time the speculations about his possible move started to swirl this summer, and it was suggested that if the move were imminent, he would much rather go to Inter Milan following the appo…

Mane has Nagelsman´s ´full backing´ despite below-par Bayern form

Bayern Munich head coach Julian Nagelsmann says Sadio Mane has his full backing after coming in for criticism in recent weeks.

Mane started well following his move from Liverpool, scoring three goals in his first three Bundesliga appearances, but he has not netted in the league since while Bayern have been held to three consecutive draws.

In the midweek Champions League victory over Barcelona, Mane was substituted with 20 minutes to play having failed to attempt a shot or create a chance.

This apparent slump was put to Nagelsmann ahead of Saturday s game at Augsburg, but the coach is not concerned.

It s quite normal that you are dissatisfied at first when things are not going well, Nagelsmann said on Friday. He does a lot of self reflection and knows w…

Bundesliga Wrap: Bayern beat Dortmund, Leverkusen keep up pressure

Mario Gotze scored against his former club as leaders Bayern Munich picked up a 3-0 Bundesliga victory at title rivals Borussia Dortmund.

After a goalless first half, Gotze came off the bench to score the opener in the 66th minute of Saturday s much-hyped fixture with a neat finish before Arjen Robben and Thomas Muller made sure of maximum points with strikes in the 85th and 87th minutes respectively.

The result sends Bayern four points clear of second-placed Bayer Leverkusen and seven ahead of Dortmund, while also extending their record unbeaten run in the league to 38.

Dortmund have now lost back-to-back league matches for the first time since September 2011.

Leverkusen kept up their pressure on Bayern by picking up a 1-0 victory at Hertha Berlin.

Digard: Fan safety is paramount

Nice captain Didier Digard says that scenes of violence among fans in French stadiums simply cannot be repeated.

Nice s 1-0 home defeat to Saint-Etienne on Sunday was marred by unwanted trouble in the stands, with visiting fans ripping up seats and throwing them.

As a result, the French football league (LFP) have banned Saint-Etienne fans from travelling to any away matches for the rest of 2013.

The ruling means that supporters will miss three matches, including a glamour tie at French champions Paris Saint-Germain in the Coupe de la Ligue.

And Digard, who spent two loan spells at Nice before signing permanently in 2011, believes that while fans have a crucial role to play in matches, safety for all must be paramount.

It gives a bad image of football. The …

Burnley pay club-record fee to sign Middlesbrough´s Gibson

Burnley have made Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson their first signing of the transfer window in a deal that has equalled their club-record fee.

The 25-year-old has signed a four-year deal at Turf Moor in a move that will reportedly cost the Clarets in the region of £15million, which Sean Dyche s side previously spent last summer to sign striker Chris Wood from Leeds United.

Gibson played in each of Middlesbrough s Premier League games during the 2016-17 season and stayed with his boyhood club when they were relegated out of the top flight.

He has represented England at Under-21 level and, though he is yet to win a senior cap, Gibson has been called up to the Three Lions full squad.

The centre-back was at Turf Moor on Sunday to watch his new team s pr…

Everton should keep Ademola Lookman

There seem to be many opinions on Everton paying upwards of £40million to sign Brazilian forward Richarlison from Watford. For me, the Blues are paying the price for potential, and compensation for the arrival of boss Marco Silva, too.

However, the Toffees already have a young winger who can play on the left wing in Ademola Lookman. The 20-year-old is a bright young prospect, yet could leave the club this summer due to Richarlison’s arrival.

RB Leipzig looking to sign Lookman

Lookman spent the second half of last season on loan at Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, after then Everton boss Sam Allardyce had frozen the winger out of the team. Evertonian’s could not believe their eyes and ears when the winger left for Germany.

The team had been crying out for creati…

Wenger ready to banish Birmingham blues

Arsene Wenger is convinced Arsenal can finally put the memory of their nightmare trip to Birmingham City two years ago behind them this weekend.

Then, in February 2008, the Gunners arrived at St Andrew s five points clear at the top of the Premier League.

But their title challenge collapsed after a traumatic afternoon that began with a career-threatening injury to striker Eduardo and ended with a last minute Birmingham equaliser.

There followed an astonishing display of petulance by Arsenal captain William Gallas who remained sat on the pitch long after the final whistle.

Arsenal s season collapsed from that point and their demise allowed Manchester United to take the title.

Now Arsenal manager Wenger s side return in second place, lying two poin…
